Tag Archives: Never Not Broken

These days everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, feels broken.
Big, small, micro, macro, personal, political. Everything.
When it feels this way, when *I* feel this way, I remember Akhilanda.

Akhilanda is the Hindu goddess whose name means “Never Not Broken.” Like a badass, she spins on a crocodile down the river of fear and shows us that broken is the way of things. Broken is infinite potential.

If you feel broken and everything around you feels broken, there is nothing wrong with you. You’re not doing anything wrong. I don’t know about you, but I’m always looking for the time when everything’s working, when things are neat and not a complete freaking mess. But that day will never come. A broken mess is the way things are and in that broken mess are all possibilities.

This is not the first time I’ve leaned on the strength of Akhilanda.
For more on her, see the article that introduced her to me in 2011:

And the blog posts I wrote about her:

Including my favorite which is exactly 100 words:
~ 100 Words: Akhilanda Rides Again and Again and Again ~

Tell us in the comments about your relationship to broken. Do you resist it and are you feeling it now?
Let’s ride our crocodiles together.

Until then,
Breathe deep. Shine bright. Show up.
