Sun, May 31, 2020 ~ Dancing Water Daily ~ Moon River Restorative Yoga: Sink + Float

The feeling that kept coming to me in the first restorative yoga class I took from my teacher, Shandoah Goldman, was that of relaxing into a soft raft that was floating on water. The simultaneous sensation of letting go deeply into the support and effortlessly floating is one that my body~mind comes back to again and again.

This short, simple series with just a few props* invites that dynamic of sinking and floating. I call it Lie Down with Logs (Towel Logs!) and you can find the video here.

Props for the Practice:
• carpet ~ blanket ~ yoga mat (or any combination so the floor is soft and forgiving)
• 2 thick bath towels
• 1 blanket
• eye covering (a small hand towel or thick scarf is recommended)
• a cat companion (optional)
• tea or water (optional)

If you like music while you are practicing, I recommend Floating by James Anthony Walker on Insight Timer.

* I’m exploring using fewer and simpler props and I’d love to know how these series work for you! Please let me know what props work best for you: what you do and do not have access to and what feels best. I’d love to create practices that address our practice-at-home needs!
