Tue, May 5, 2020 ~ Dancing Water Daily ~ Nourishing Movement: Simply Navigating Overwhelm

We all feel overwhelmed sometimes. What would happen if we see overwhelm as an opportunity to take things easier and make things simpler?

In times of stress, fear or uncertainty, when my little boat gets swamped, I feel the physical sensation of overwhelm. It’s sometimes a heaviness in my body, the sensation of the sympathetic nervous system freezing up. Other times, overwhelm sends me off into distraction and busyness.

I’ve had lots of opportunities in the past weeks to practice different ways of responding to overwhelm. Today’s Nourishing Movement practice explores two of them. I was inspired by two teachers:

When you feel overwhelmed, you’re trying too hard. ~ Thich Nhat Hanh

What if you set aside your current plans for a moment and just tried the simplest option? ~ James Clear

Together, let’s acknowledge the sensation of overwhelm and play with releasing our grip of trying and looking for the next simplest thing to do. Find the video here.

Help me to continue to create Dancing Water Daily practices! No matter how far apart we are physically, we are all connected. The path that we all move along together is held by an Invisible Net of Love that is always there even if we can’t see it. The Dancing Water Daily practices is my thread in that net. Please support my work by offering a donation so I can keep creating these practices for you. With your generous support, I can continue to invest in making these classes available to anyone who can benefit. Please click here https://paypal.me/SusanMcCulley?locale.x=en_US to be part of the Dancing Water Daily Net of Love. And please “Send to a Friend” to avoid PayPal fees! Suggested donation: $5 a class or $15 a week ~ and truly, any amount helps enormously.

THIS WEEK! Make a Donation ~ Get a Free Book!

A special heartfelt thank you to all who have offered financial support toward the continued creation of these practices. Your generosity makes classes available to even more people and that is a huge gift. I am deeply grateful.

This week, get a gift of gratitude: when you make a Dancing Water Daily donation of $10 or more, I will send you (or whoever you like) one of my books, Buddha Cat: Learning Presence, Awareness & Self Care from a Teacher Who Sometimes Barfs on the Bed or Octabusy: How To Let Go in a Sea of Doing. I can’t wait to put one in the mail for you!

Thank You Gift for Helping our Community Grow!

Shout outs to this week’s generous donors Susan Snyder and Lynn Pribus! A thousand thanks, friends! Together we can extend this Net of Love to reach everyone who needs it.

AND if, like me, your finances are akimbo, I get it. Another way to help is to share these video practices. Send a link to a friend! Post it on social media! Help spread the word about nourishing movement and moving together apart.
