Tue, April 28, 2020 ~ Dancing Water Daily ~ Nourishing Movement: Connection & Loneliness

It might be said that the opposite of connection is loneliness. There are different kinds of loneliness, of course. We can be lonely for a particular kind of connection, like a partner or a community or a specific person or animal. I’m finding that in these days of physical isolation, I’m lonely for both deep connection with people I know and love and small, everyday connections between people I don’t know at all.

In today’s class, I tell the story of one of those missed everyday connections that left me feeling deeply lonely. What helps me in these times are a few things:
• to connect with how I’m feeling in a detailed way ~ the physical, mental and emotional sensations;
• to remember that I am not alone and that literally millions of people are feeling the same way in this moment and untold billions (likely every human who ever lived ever) have felt this way at some time;
• and to tell the story, tell the truth, share the tender feelings of vulnerability and loss.

Today’s Nourishing Movement practice anchors in the connective tissue that literally holds our bodies together and the feelings of connection and loneliness that hold us together as humans. Find the video here.

“Every one of us, in every part of the world, carries … stories of vulnerability and triumph. The stories are our guidelines for how to adapt in the present. … The more stories we share, the better off we are.” ~ Esther Perel

As Mary Oliver writes, you have a place in the family of things. Please do reach out in the comment below or below the video and share a story of connection or missed connection. It makes a difference when you do: to me, to you and to the whole community.

Whoever you are, no matter how lonely,
the world offers itself to your imagination,
calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting –
over and over announcing your place
in the family of things.
~ from Wild Geese by Mary Oliver

Help me to continue to create Dancing Water Daily practices! No matter how far apart we are physically, we are all connected. The path that we all move along together is held by an Invisible Net of Love that is always there even if we can’t see it. The Dancing Water Daily practices is my thread in that net. Please support my work by offering a donation so I can keep creating these practices for you. With your generous support, I can continue to invest in making these classes available to anyone who can benefit. Please click here https://paypal.me/SusanMcCulley?locale.x=en_US to be part of the Dancing Water Daily Net of Love. And please “Send to a Friend” to avoid PayPal fees! Suggested donation: $5 a class or $15 a week ~ and truly, any amount helps enormously.

Shout outs to this week’s generous donors Pam Beard and Marion Robbins! A thousand thanks, friends! Together we can extend this Net of Love to reach everyone who needs it.

AND if, like me, your finances are akimbo, I get it. Another way to help is to share these video practices. Send a link to a friend! Post it on social media! Help spread the word about nourishing movement and moving together apart.
