Wed, April 15, 2020 ~ Dancing Water Daily ~ Moon River Restorative Yoga: Calm

Sometimes these practices we do every day can feel self-indulgent. What with the world spinning off its axis and so much fear and uncertainty and suffering happening, taking care of ourselves can seem like a selfish way to spend even the smallest amount of time.

Elizabeth Gilbert reminds us in her recent talk on Insight Timer that we cannot share what we do not have. If I am afraid, if I am rattled, I cannot offer calm or compassion or love to anyone else. If I hope to make any positive difference, even in the smallest of ways, I cannot do it unless I, myself, feel calm, compassionate and loved.

This is why we practice. This is why we show up and do this every single day. Not just We don’t just do it for ourselves. We do it to give ourselves what the world needs and then to pass it on.

Today’s Moon River Restorative Yoga practice focuses on feeling the sensation of calm with deep attention and inviting it to spread out inside you and around you. Please find the video here.

Here’s what you’ll need:
• 2 firm pillows
• 2 bath towels
• a chair
• 1 small blanket
• eye covering
• tea, warm drink or water

Calm is contagious. Pass it on.
