In Amy E. Robillard’s beautiful essay, Little Mouse, published in Full Grown People this week, I found the quote above that struck me with its connection to our focus this week. Finding strength in even “small and insignificant” places is at the heart of expanding our notion of what strength really is.
On Monday we danced to the powerful and energizing music of One Billion Rising and the rest of the week to a routine called Sense You All (more on that next week). You can find all playlists below and if you want to listen to them (and of course you do) just to go to Spotify! You can listen for free at Spotify! Sign up for free, follow me at “susanmcculley” and you’ll find my public playlists ~ just click and listen!
Below are the playlists for the week, but first here are some things you probably want to know about:
• Bluebeard: Identifying the Internal Predator, Mar 13, 2016, 2-5pm with Dianne and Mary Linn
Sunday afternoon workshop Using the powerful tools of an authentic teaching story, combined with guided movement with a master teacher Mary Linn, and time for discussion held in a sacred circle of women, we will work to recognize and understand the voice of our own internal predator. Cost: $65. For all the details, go here https://www.facebook.com/events/501637500008533/
• Firedance, Weds, Mar 16, 11am-1215pm acac Albemarle square and Thurs, March 17, 840-940am acac downtown
It’s time for the annual celebration of St. Patrick’s Day with the inspiring music of Riverdance! Two chances to dance it and of course, wear your green!
• Spring Nia Jam, Fri, Mar 18, 2016, 545-7pm, acac downtown
Spring is coming! Susan, Kate and Rachel will be teaching a special Nia jam focused on renewal. Come celebrate the sprouting wit us!
• Downtown Morning Nia on Tue, Apr 5 & Thu, Apr 7
ACAC is refinishing the floor in the Downtown Group Ex Studio during the first week of April. Weather permitting, I will teach on the rooftop deck on Tuesday, April 5 and Thursday, April 7, both days at 840-940am. Due to the somewhat rougher surface of the deck, we recommend wearing light shoes for these classes. Classes normally taught in Studio A will be held as usual during this time!
• dance. sit. write. draw. returns! Saturday, May 7, 830am-5pm
Living life as an artist isn’t a path for some rarified few, it’s our birthright. All of us. You might have lots of experience with dancing, meditating, writing, and drawing. Or you might have none. Spending the day blending these practices is a way of opening the channel of your artist self ~ giving it some oxygen and space no matter what your experience is. Join us for a delicious day. Go to susanmcculley.com/workshops for the details and to register. Or email firstname.lastname@example.org with questions.
As always, please let me know if you have questions or how I can help more.
Dance on. Shine on.
