We go for a bike ride in the small Minnesota town where my husband spent his summers as a boy.
I rode my bike on these dirt roads. There’s my uncle’s house. There’s the field where we played softball. We made a world in these ditches.
And then at the corner…
an enormous field of sunflowers extending to the edge of everything.
All their faces turned to the east.
Bees on almost every face.
It made my heart skip to be near them.
1000 beautiful things? We estimated it was in the millions.
