A Thousand Beautiful Things

After a torrential rain, we hiked along the Potomac River.


The river was so full and fast I felt nervous to watch it. Every year a handful of people drown here thinking they can wade or swim or paddle these waters.


And way up on inhospitable rocky cliffs, are little ecosystems of frogs and tadpoles and lily pads and duck weed.
