Susan’s Playlists March 16-19, 2015 ~ Energy Leaks

energy leaks leaky boatWe each of us has a certain amount of energy to put into what matters to us. The invitation is to notice where my energy is leaking away on fretting or fiddling or just adding on more than I need to. It’s no coincidence that this was our focus for a week full of Fire(dance). Just like spring, the building energy and emotion can be distracting. The practice is to notice when we spring a leak.

Below is the music from the week ~ but first some announce-y type things:

Come listen on Spotify! I’m experimenting with putting my playlists up on this site so you can just listen – no fuss, no muss! Upside: easy for you, just get on Spotify (it’s free!), follow me at “susanmcculley” and look for my Public Playlists (organized by date, day, focus). Downside: Spotify doesn’t have all the music I have, so sometimes I’ll put up a different version of a song or skip it all together. Another bonus: I’ll occasionally (like today!) put up Loving Now playlists of music I’m listening to and loving ~ songs that haven’t made it to a class playlist…yet. I’m definitely after feedback on this ~ do you like it? Is it helpful? Will you listen? Let me know!

Nia Jam Friday, March 20, 545-7pm, at acac Downtown Group Ex Studio ~ Magic
Join Kate Aust, Anne Wolf and Loring Myles for the debut of Magic, a new routine by Ann Christiansen. The intent of this body of work is to allow you to see and find grounding and grace in your dance: G (grounded), R (relaxed), A(alert/aware), C (centered), E (energized). Bring a guest for free!

Mindful Movement & Metta at Buck Mountain Episcopal Church Parish Hall (4133 Earlysville Road, Earlysville VA ~ GPS takes you to the church, keep going a little bit to the white building just past the church yard), Friday, March 27, 2015, 6-715pm. Experience the No Words routine ~ all instrumental music and is taught in silence ~ interwoven with the words of lovingkindness or metta meditation. Returning to the meditation throughout the routine can help keep the mind focused and the heart open. Absolutely no experience is needed in movement or meditation to participate. The event is free to all with a request for donations to the Buck Mountain Wellness Ministry (suggested $12).

dance. sit. write. April 18, 845am-4pm at Buck Mountain Episcopal Church Parish Hall in Earlysville. Spend a day exploring the interconnection of movement, meditation and creativity. No experience in any of the three practices is needed. We’ll provide what you need including incredible food from Rebecca George’s Dragonfly Kitchen. Find all the details here and email me for a registration form (sjmnia@gmail.com). I’ve been working on this for years. I would love to share it with you. Early bird rate of $60 through March 21!

As always, please let me know if you have questions or how I can help more.

Dance on. Shine on.

Susan sig

*** PLAYLIST NOTE: My playlists can also be found on Spotify (It’s free!) by following “susanmcculley” (no space) and look for Public Playlists. Sometimes music is not available on Spotify so I may replace with another version or skip songs. What you find below is exactly what I used in class. ***

Hi Susan, Having a bit of a glitch finding you on Spotify. Do I have to do it via Face Book? I went directly to Spotify and established a username and pw. but I do not see where you are (there is a followers thing I clicked on but when I typed in your name it said there was no match). I do not see Public Playlist anywhere. Help me get un-lost! Sorry to bother you, it should be straight forward however I am obviously doing something incorrect. thanks!

    • Hey Sheila~ Thanks for letting me know. I’m very new at this, too, and had a similar issue finding someone. So the first thing is to be sure you’re entering “susanmcculley” with no spaces. I’ve also wondered if going through Facebook would be easier, but it shouldn’t be necessary. And you won’t see the Public Playlist tab until you get to my page. Give it a whirl and let me know what happens. We’ll figure it out together! xo
