In February, meditation teacher and author, Sharon Salzberg sponsors a 28-Day Meditation Challenge. Everybody is invited to commit to meditating every day for the month and join the mindfulness community. As part of the challenge, I’ll be blogging throughout the month (along with other meditator/bloggers) about the experience. You can find the posts on Sharon’s site and I’ll share mine on Focus Pocus.
28-Day Meditation Challenge ~ Day 5

Multitasking is a myth. There is plenty of science to back this up (you can read it here, listen to it here, get the bullet list here, and do a fun little experiment here), but I don’t need science to tell me it’s true.
I can feel it.
When I’m attempting to do more than one thing at a time, I can feel my nervous system rev up and my concentration scatter. Even if I’m doing one thing but my mind is racing to plan and schedule all the other things I want or need to do, I feel as though I’m somersaulting down hill.
When I feel myself tumbling, it’s been helpful for me to say to myself
I’m doing this right now.
I’m doing this.
This.
