Susan’s Playlist Dec 8 – 11 ~ Melting Expectations

melting expectations sjm ecm xmas 1969

Expectations have teeth. Expectations have consequences. Expectations create tension. And especially this time of year, expectations are everywhere.

This week we used the hot skillet of our awareness to melt icy expectations and the tension they create. Ice to water, water to steam.

Below is the music from the week of classes including wintry, icy, watery and steamy songs!

And speaking of songs…

MUSIC FOR MUSIC OFFER!

1. I am always looking for new music and I always love to know what you’re listening to and loving.
2. In particular, I’m working on a new project and am looking for instrumental pieces for that.
3. I have a bunch of Nia music I am dying to share.

THE OFFER: if you send me the title and artist of three songs you love (especially but not only instrumentals), I will send (or hand deliver, depending on your location) you a CD of Nia music.

THE ALTERNATE (OR ADDITIONAL) OFFER: If music isn’t your thang, then write your favorite Focus Pocus post from 2014 in the comments below, and I’ll send you Nia music.

Can’t wait to hear from you…on both counts!

And finally, a couple of cool upcoming things:
– Let There Be Light outdoor art exhibit on the campus of PVCC is tomorrow, Friday, December 12 from 6-9pm. Bundle up, light yourself up, and come see some amazing art. Check out the details here.
– My hero, teacher and mentor, Jamie Catto is offering a two-hour online workshop on December 21. Check out the details here. If you sign up and want to connect with me about the class before or after, just let me know!
– The winter “Black Out” Jam for the Winter Solstice is with Mary Linn, Anne and Susan on Friday, December 19, 545-7pm at acac downtown. Non-members welcome! Members can bring a guest for free!

As always, please let me know how I can help more.

Dance on. Shine on.
Susan sig

    Susan,

MUSIC! Don’t know why, but I am obsessed with the quest to hear new music. For the past year I have purchased many of the albums from artists you feature on your play list. A friend in New Mexico recommended Lila Downs. I am listening to her right now…..go to liladowns.com to read more about her.

    If you like her music, I would love to get a cd of your in music! I leave for New Mexico ( and India) on Saturday and will not return until mid-January. Do you teach tomorrow? (Friday December 12?}

(Also, a am pleased to be introduced to Jamie Catto. Do you know him personally?)

    • Tell me where you’ll be tomorrow. Lynne, and I’ll get you a CD to take on your trip! I don’t teach tomorrow but will be around downtown. And I’ve “met” and been coached by Jamie on Skype. I’ve yet to squeeze him senseless in person but I trust I will someday. Do let me know how I can get a CD to you! Xo
